73d SAC Flight Line Shack

Truck by door is "POL Truck" - Duce & Half was assigned to the Flight Line. The Duce & Half was used for running parts, etc. We would also use it for a "Shuttle Service" to Back Beach. Notice that in a lot of these pictures... many guys are running around with their shirts off. That was because of the swithering heat and high humidity. All the 50 gal. drums (filled with sand) on the left were part of a "bunker" complex. There was a "metal landing mat" roof on the drums, covered with sandbags.

An "A" model - on active runway, early morning

I'm not sure if this one is taking off or just taxing. The pilot's hatch appears to be open.

New Arrivals for the 73d SAC

These Mohawks are covered with a plastic coating to protect them from the ocean air while sitting on the deck of an aircraft carrier during shipment from the United States to Vietnam.
